New Zealand is an island country in the southern hemisphere, located just north of Australia. It’s a U-shaped country comprising its two main land masses: North Island and South Island. The population is just over 5 million, with Maori being the majority ethnicity.
The climate is temperate year-round, with a hot summer and cold winter infrastructure. There are five distinct seasons, with autumn being the most popular season to travel. Lange-Lines, or autumnal leaves, decorate the trees throughout this period, making them beautiful to look at.
As well as having beautiful scenery, New Zealand is also known for its wildlife, including historic and endangered species like moa (a flightless bird) and kiwi (a large viney fruit bat). These creatures are some of the most recognizable in the world!
Therefore, it is very popular to visit New Zealand as a tourist destination year-round.
Book your tickets
Once you have decided where you would like to go, it is time to book your tickets. There are several ways to do this. You can buy your tickets directly through the airline or travel agency, you can place an order with them via the internet, or you can go through a travel agent.
Since each method takes a little bit of your time and effort, we suggest that you choose the one that makes the most sense for you and your schedule. Many people get their first trip to New Zealand as a travel company or airline arranged trip, so we feel that is the best way to go.
If you prefer to do this on your own, then make sure to take some extra clothes and toiletries since you will be staying in a unfamiliar environment for quite some time!
We recommend using bookable online travel sites like Booka2go. They have many options including selling tickets through online platforms like TicketsNow and AirBNB (the site lets users create themselves as travelers so they can easily find an opponent in their destination).
Apply for a visa
Before you travel, apply for a New Zealand visa in your country. It is easy to do online or by phone in India, but also in New Zealand there is a physical consulate located in each large city.
You can also go to the New Zealand embassy in your country to apply, but make sure it is the correct one for your trip- Indian visas can be exchanged for Kiwi visas!
The process takes about one month and can be done in your own time as you can decide when applications are complete. It is very worth doing this early on, before hard sell tactics start happening at the consulate.
In case you are planning a trip to New Zealand from India, you should know how to pack properly. The temperature and weather in New Zealand is very important to know as well.
Temperature is an important variable when traveling in new places. Pack a sweater or thermal shirt if you are going out in the heat, or a wool coat if it is cold. Make sure you pack enough warm layers for the temperature outside, and that they are easy to get on and off.
New Zealand does not have an extreme cold weather phenomenon, so no need for winter boots or gloves here! If you are going snowboarding or skiing, make sure you bring your own protection against snow and water!
General travel tips: Check local flight information before booking your flights, especially if they are long-distance flights. Some airlines may block incoming calls and/or allow only one phone per person on each flight.
Make reservations at hotels
Before you leave, make sure you have a good idea of where to stay while in New Zealand. In the city centers and major destinations, you’ll want to find a hotel that features technology and convenience.
Most tourist cities in New Zealand have at least one large city center hotel with plenty of amenities. A business-class flight would come with the assurance that your room will have a mini-bar, satellite TV, and free WiFi.
And speaking of wellness, most hotels offer some form of relaxation or meditation as part of their services. If you are traveling with children, look for hotel suites with kid-friendly amenities such as breakfast kitchens or playrooms.
You can also check out reviews for each hotel to see if there have been reports of misbehavior or guests running out of supplies due to cleanliness and quality.
Plan your itinerary
Before you start planning your trip, it is important to have a firm plan. It’s the only time you will feel prepared for every situation that may arise.
You need to have a list of places you want to go and places you want to see. You should also have a list of things you would like to do in New Zealand, including activities for all seasons.
Having a plan will save you time and frustration in the future, when something goes wrong or you need to respond to an emergency. It is also the only way to avoid being overwhelmed or having gaps in your knowledge.
In this article, we will talk about how to travel from India to New Zealand from different points of view: as a reader, as someone who lives there and as someone who knows nothing about New Zealand but wants to go there.
Know what to expect
When you travel, especially to a new country, be prepared for certain things to not be like home. These may include:
Not being able to find what you want or need in the stores or online,
Being exposed to new things and ideas about life, and products,
Having a different social atmosphere than home,
Not knowing people’s phone numbers or being cut off from the world when you need it. These may be replaced by 24-hour support via tech support. (This is true for India as well! I know because I used it.)
Knowing how to get back to home base quickly if something happens.
How to save money?
First, you’re going to want to have some money left over at Indian end. This can be difficult because many budget-oriented people in India will not travel outside of Delhi or Gurgaon, the capital.
You will also want to have enough for your layover and flight back home if you don’t make it to your destination. It is also good to have some extra money in case you have an incidently bad experience or are disappointed with your trip.
Keeping track of your expenses is the best way to save money while traveling in India. There are several ways to keep track of your spending though. See the next article for details!

What to bring with you?
While New Zealand is a beautiful country, being out in the middle of nature can be intimidating. Luckily, we have made some suggestions for visitors to New Zealand who are nervous about going there or just want to take a break.
For visitors who are not comfortable hiking or climbing trees, imitation hares and rabbits provide some seclusion! There is also the option of using virtual reality technology to feel like you are really there.
For those who prefer watching sports or don’t really like rain, visiting a football (soccer) match or a basketball (bball) game is an easy way to travel.
For those who like experiencing extreme weather conditions, visiting NZ during winter or summer months with snow mountains in the background! These two seasons range from November through February and June through September, respectively.
